The stye of the lugs represents Angular Momentum's new Time Gallery style case, and looks interesting on a dive watch. Really helps add heft to the case which slightly reminds me of those popular large Russian style diver watches. Adding to the tool-like composure of the watch is the brand and bezel retaining screw. The crown of the watch is meant to look like a valve release - nightly reminiscent of dive tools. It is steel and coated in something called lemon gold for the brass tone. Makes me think of plumbing. You then have a round screw on the bezel which is used to secure the bezel down and prevent accidental turning. Both this screw and crown have intentionally been created in a larger than life size to help emphasize the tool like nature of the watch.

The Lange 1 Tourbillon was actually released on the 100th anniversary of Emil Lange's release of his tourbillon pocket watch in Paris at the beginning of the 20th century. Dates and anniversaries are important to watch companies, but it does help put into perspective how nicely stable the watch industry has been... even over decades or centuries. The Lange 1 Tourbillon was produced in a limited edition of 250 pieces in 18k rose gold, and 150 pieces in platinum. The watches are pretty hard to find. In 2006, one of these watches in rose gold sold for about ,000 at auction - just a few years after the watch was sold. Interestingly that was was not even in what I would consider mint condition. One of these watches is available on James List for about 0,000. I don't specifically know the condition of the watch, but the price should be negotiable. At the very least, the watch almost epitomizes the authentic luxury end of the spectrum, of the watches that came out during this era. It was a thin golden age of watch making excess, that may not come back again in such a force for decades.

Easily my favorite new Panerai of SIHH 2010 is an unexpected model. The brand that made it a point to "hide" the tourbillon complication on their first tourbillon watch has now made an about face. This is the first skeletonized Panerai watch that I know of, and does not let down. It is actually the same movement from their normal tourbillon watch but skeletonized. This is in contrast to what some makers do by making a watch movement specially designed to be skeletonized. Good that the watch movement leneded itself nicel to the "open" treatment. The watch is really stunning and exactly what you would expect from a Panerai watch if it was skeletonized.  Called the Radiomir Tourbillon GMT Ceramica 48mm Lo Scientziato PAM348 (PAM 348), this piece is truly unique in the brand's current watch line. Most of the other new models of 2010 are minor variations on existing models to differ broaden an established brand feel, but retain its strict identity.

The watches are big, being 46mm wide, but don't feel as big on your wrist. Crystal is thankfully sapphire. The colors on the dial look nice, but not silly looking. The hands do stand out enough, so the watch isn't too difficult to read. One thing you'll notice is the large flatter crown. It has a nice inlaid Citizen Promaster logo in it. Most of the functions need to be read about to be used, but once you learn how to use the watch, it isn't that complex. When you have the nice looking timepiece on your wrist, it is nice to know that it never needs a battery replacement, and doesn't need to be set because it is atomic clock controlled. That and the easy to use world-timer function make it a perfect travel watch, or everyday watch. Plus the watch is sophisticated enough to keep you interested in it for a while.

If you look below, you'll notice one of his paintings called "Dare." It takes the word "Dare" and writes it many times in graffiti text. The same term is applied to these three limited edition Pierre DeRoche Split Rock Dare Collection watches - each in a slightly different style. The three watches will come in a limited edition of just 11 pieces. Each dial is hand painted (not using a spray paint can). The term "Dare" also brings up another memory of growing up in LA in the 1990s - the Dare program. Who could forget that? "DARE To Keep Kids Off Drugs." In California this was some mandatory program in elementary schools. It was really silly - but actually was done well. It would never fly to day. The message was "yea drugs are out there, lets learn about them and tell you why you should say no." Better than all that "just say no shit without telling kids what it is all about. Curiosity will defeat dogma any day. Lots of t-shirts and bumper stickers were handed out (like the one pictured below). For a while it was actually quite trendy to wear the t-shirts, especially with the high-schoolers smoking weed in the corner at gym class. Oh irony. While the Dare collection of watches from Pierre DeRoche has no formal connection with the DARE program, it does in my mind given that both adopted an "urban font" for the message.

This new rose gold version of the Linde Werdelin SpidoLite... is DYNA-AMITE! And this DLC version of the super skeletonized case watch is OUTTA-SIGHT! Really, they are pretty cool, and I think took an interesting design to a much more luxurious place. The Original SpidoLite SA watch I reviewed here was more a stealth wealth watch. Interesting, but not showy enough for some people's tastes. The new Linde Werdelin SpidoLite Family watches are a brag worthy line of limited edition watches of the likes I've never seen before. No other company than Linde Werdelin that I know of is so able to take a watch, make simple but effective changes to it, and make it look like something else altogether.

Seiko is one of the most important watch brands on planet, now, and historically so. Who do you think was responsible for the quartz wrist watch? Seiko. Who do you think was responsible for the popularity of the LCD digital quartz watch? Seiko. Who do you think also makes a series of luxury made mechanical watches? Seiko. The focus of the brand historically was less on style, and more on technical excellence and movement innovations. So they’ve built up a tradition of constantly improving their own products, but also those of others.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Co-Axial Chronograph "Teak Concept Dial" Watches Watch Releases

Based on the feedback from my article on the Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra GMT Chronograph, people are split on the "Teak Concept" dial that is utilized here. Some love it, and others (like me) are a bit skeptical on how well it will look in the long run. Still, the dial is highly legible, especially the chronograph subdials. I also like the easy to push chronograph pushers. The dial is available in the pictured dark gray or a lighter color. There is also an alligator strap in addition to the metal bracelets available. In either material or combo of materials - I have a feeling that this line along with the GMT are going to be a success for Omega. The new Seamaster Aqua Terra Chronograph should be available soon. for probably about  ,000 to over ,000 for the all gold models.

A statement by Seuss indicates that he "[looks forward] to building the Company's reach as the world's leading watch authority." The implication is that he realizes Tourneau is not there right now. Bonus for them is that Tourneau has preexisting relationships with virtually all major watch brands as well as foot holds across the world. Tourneau also has a heavy amount of window and foot traffic. Let's just hope that someone realizes their sales people hiring and training practices need a serious overhaul.

Indulge in a venerable orgy of carbon fiber as it caresses your wrist and arouses your eyes. I just made myself laugh with that last comment. But really, for carbon fiber watch lovers, you'll be happy to know Bell & Ross is there for you. In more ways one  - case, strap, and dial. New in this BR01 limited edition watch collection are two all carbon fiber watch. The BR01-92 (three hand) and BR01-94 (chronograph). You'll further notice that the watches pick up the "Pro" styling that was first seen in the BR01-94 Pro Titanium watch discussed here.

I do applaud Romain Jerome for being so ballsy and avant garde. They have made some nice one-off or limited edition pieces that spit in the face of fellow Swiss who are highly conservative most of the time - especially in terms of watch design. Actually, even Romain Jerome's non limited edition watches are "special." Love them or hate them you have to appreciate their niche and determination to be different.  However, that doesn't mean I have to love everything they make. This new special "art" watch by French artist André Chéca is a bit much for me. It is one of those things that I freely admit not liking, but appreciate the artistic endeavors behind it, and that it exists. As though I wouldn't get pissed about it being in a museum ("That isn't art, I could do that!"), but I would openly discuss my distaste for it ("My lord this piece tickles the vomit enticing regions of my gullet").

Here are four models from the new Nubeo Black Mamba watch collection that have been made in partnership with Kobe Bryant. There are a few fantastic styles in this collection, and here are four versions that I have been fortunate enough to check out and share with you. The three styles here are the basic Black Mamba (chapter ring with hour and minute markers), the Black Mamba Ultimate (black sapphires on the chapter ring on the outer dial and Arabic numerals on the bezel), and the Black Mamba MVP (black or whiskey sapphires on the bezel and the dial chapter ring).
